Call for Award Description

The World Values Survey Association (WVSA) is pleased to announce that nominations are now open for the 2025 Ronald F. Inglehart Best Book Award on Political Culture and Values. Established in 2022, this award recognizes outstanding scholarly contributions that advance theoretical and/or empirical understanding in comparative cross-cultural research. Presented biennially, the award honors the legacy of WVSA founder Ronald F. Inglehart by celebrating the best book published in the past five years. Eligible works should offer original and significant insights by (i) developing theories that capture the spirit of our times and (ii) employing large-scale, cross-national survey data to provide robust comparative evidence. The award includes a cash prize of €750, generously funded by the WVSA and the Inglehart Family. Nominations are open to scholars worldwide, regardless of WVSA membership. The deadline for submissions is 30 September 30, 2025.

Eligibility

  • Author(s) do not need to be members of the WVSA;
  • The work must be a published scientific monograph by one or more authors;
  • Priority will be given to books that examine cross-cultural differences using cross-sectional and/or longitudinal public opinion survey data;
  • Books must have been published in the five previous calendar years to be eligible for the current awards cycle (i.e. in 2021-2025 for the 2025 prize application);
  • Self-nominations and nominations from publishers are accepted;
  • Edited volumes are eligible (but not textbooks designed primarily for use in the classroom).
