Publication date: Thu, 18 Jul 2024

Norbert Eschborn, a key supporter of IPSA’s academic activities, has completed his five-year term as Director of the Konrad-Adenauer Foundation (KAS) Canada. Throughout his tenure, Dr. Eschborn demonstrated unwavering support for IPSA’s academic initiatives, significantly strengthening the collaboration between IPSA and KAS Canada. Under Dr. Eschborn's leadership, KAS Canada provided invaluable institutional support to IPSA, contributing to the success of numerous international academic events, including:

  • Challenges and New Directions in Multi-Level Governance: IPSA 75th Anniversary Conference (25-26 April 2024, Montréal, Canada);
  • Open Access Publishing: A New Era in Scholarly Communication (13-14 September 2022, Montreal and Virtual);
  • The UN at 75: Challenges and Prospects for the Future of Multilateralism (19-21 October 2020, Virtual).

This close partnership also led to the publication of IPSA’s first Open Access book, Does the UN Model Still Work? Challenges and Prospects for the Future of Multilateralism. Edited by Kim Fontaine-Skronski, IPSA Executive Director; Valériane Thool, Lecturer in International Law at the University of Sherbrooke, and Norbert Eschborn, the book features original articles from scholars and policy notes from practitioners, drawing on contributions from The UN at 75: Challenges and Prospects for the Future of Multilateralism conference.

As Dr. Eschborn embarks on a new chapter as the Director of the KAS office in Croatia, IPSA offers its profound gratitude for his invaluable contributions and extends its best wishes for his continued success in this new position.

Norbert Eschborn was appointed Director of the KAS office in Canada in August 2019. Until June 2019 he headed the Myanmar office of KAS. Before, he managed the office in Korea in the same function between 2011 and 2015. From 2007 to 2011 he was Head of the Evaluation Division in the European and International Cooperation Department of KAS.
