IPSA President Pablo Oñate at the 2024 Colombian Political Science Association Congress

IPSA was present at the 8th Colombian Political Science Association (ACCPOL) Congress, held at the University of Cauca in Popayán, Colombia from 30 October to 1 November 2024, under the theme Territorial Governance: New Questions for Old Global Challenges. The event brought together over 550 scholars and featured 74 panel discussions. The Congress examined the complex challenges facing the state and liberal democracies, including climate change, migration, and rising authoritarianism. 

Representing IPSA, President Pablo Oñate delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. In his opening remarks, Prof. Oñate thanked the organizing committee and reaffirmed IPSA's commitment to supporting political science communities across Latin America.

President Oñate also contributed to the panel Democracy and Institutional Capacity of States in Latin America, during which he discussed approaches to strengthening democracy and enhancing institutional capacity within the region.
