Biography
Simona Piattoni (BA/MA Economics, Bocconi University, PhD Political Science, MIT) is Professor of Political Science at the University of Trento, Italy, were she teaches comparative politics, European politics, and local government. She has taught also at the Universities of Tromsø, Norway (1994-2000) and Innsbruck, Austria (2010-2011) and she is adjunct professor of Governance at the University of Agder, Norway (2014-2018). She has served as member of the Executive Committee of the ECPR in 2009-2015, as Chair of the same in 2012-2015. She is currently President of the Società Italiana di Scienza Politica (SISP) (2015-2018). Her main research interests concern clientelism (Clientelism, Interests and Democratic Representation. The European Experience in Historical and Comparative Perspective, Cambridge University Press, 2001), multilevel governance (The Theory of Multi-Level Governance. Conceptual, Empirical, and Normative Challenges, Oxford University Press, 2010) and European/EU democracy (The European Union. Democratic Principles and Institutional Architectures in Times of Crisis, Oxford University Press, 2015).
