Born in Montreal to a multicultural family (French Canadian mother and Polish father), Kim spent part of her youth in Nova Scotia before completing a bachelor’s degree at Dalhousie University in Halifax. She returned to Montreal in 2012, after time spent in Salamanca (Spain), Vienna (Austria), as well as Québec City (Canada).
Cumulating 25 years of experience in the political and academic fields, Kim served as Political Adviser to the Minister of Culture and Communications of Quebec (2003-2007) after working in the Political and Cultural Affairs Section at the Canadian Embassy in Austria (1999-2001). She spent 6 years at the University of Québec in Montréal (UQÀM), first as a Researcher before becoming, in 2015, Deputy Director of the Montréal Institute for International Studies (IEIM), gaining a vast experience in non-profit management, event organization and public relations.
A graduate from McGill University (M.A in Political Science), she holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from Laval University in Québec city. Her doctoral dissertation focused on trade negotiations at the World Trade Organization (WTO). Kim has presented academic papers in the United States, Europe and Canada and conducted seminars on the topic of Culture and International Relations as well as in International Political Economy and International Trade. In recent years, she co-edited two books: Global Governance Facing Structural Changes: New Institutional Trajectories for Digital and Transnational Capitalism (with Michèle Rioux, 2015, Palgrave Macmillan); and Does the UN Model Still Work? Challenges and Prospects for the Future of Multilateralism (with Valériane Thool and Norbert Eschborn, 2023, Brill). Between 2015 and 2021, she was a member of the Association canadienne pour les Nations unies (ACNU) du Grand Montréal, serving as its Vice-President between 2019-2021. Since 2022, she sits as an administrator on the boards of Montréal International (MI) and the Office franco-québécois pour la jeunesse (OFQJ).
On her time off, she enjoys golfing and alpine skiing and has participated in several national-level competitions in music (organ) and sports (gymnastics).
