Journal/Call for Papers Description

The International Political Science Association (IPSA) and the International Political Science Abstracts seek articles for the journal's Trends in International Political Science rubric. Every year, the International Political Science Abstracts receives over 30,000 articles from around the globe, providing us with an unparalleled access to articles published in and around our discipline. Trends seeks to build on this material, determining six burgeoning currents in the field. We gather leading articles on these trends over the last 2-4 years and seek scholars with expertise in each of these areas to write (in English) a 3500-4000 word overview of the subject taking into account the bibliography we provide. After the revision process, the Trends article is then published as the first chapter of each bi-monthly issue of the International Political Science Abstracts and distributed to libraries around the world in both print and database editions.

We are currently soliciting authors to write articles on the following subjects:

1) Confucian political thought;
2) Affective polarization;
3) Artificial intelligence and voter disinformation;
4) Democratic dissatisfaction
5) Political consumerism;
6) Charismatic leadership

Authors will receive an honorarium of 500 euros, which may be shared with a co-author.

Those interested in writing an article in English on one of these topics should send an email by 26 July 2024 to Trends.IPSA@gmail.com with copy to Stephen Sawyer (ssawyer@aup.edu) and Daniel Stockemer (daniel.stockemer@uottawa.ca). Please include a CV that highlights expertise, i.e. publications, teaching or research, in the specific trend on which you would like to write. Following selection, we will contact you with the relevant article titles and abstracts and expect a first draft of the Trends article by 11 October 2024.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or need any further information.
