Job Description

The Department of Food and Resource Economics (IFRO) at the University of Copenhagen invites applications for a fixed-term postdoc position (24 months) in the area of public policy. The position is expected to commence on November 1, 2024 or soon thereafter.

Job Description
The position is funded by the Independent Research Fund Denmark under the project Explaining proportionality conflicts in public policy: when public health and veterinary policy domains intersect (PropZoon).

The project focuses on the concept of disproportionality in public policy when public health and veterinary policy domains intersect. Disproportionality manifests itself as either policy under-reaction or over-reaction. The project aims to explore and explain these phenomena through rigorous comparative research.

Using qualitative comparative analysis (QCA), the project will compare the degree of inter-institutional conflict over proportionality across 15-18 European zoonosis cases. The goal is to understand how various institutional factors influence the levels of conflict between public health and veterinary authorities. Findings from this research are expected to be published in high-impact policy journals and communicated to relevant stakeholders.

The research is led by professor Carsten Daugbjerg, University of Copenhagen and will collaborate with assistant professor Giulia Bazzan, Tilburg University.
