We are happy to announce that the International Political Science Association (IPSA) and the Inter-American Organization for Higher Education (OUI-IOHE) signed an agreement to enhance their academic cooperation. Both organizations are based in Montreal, and this partnership falls in line with their active participation in Montreal International.
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) establishes a bilateral agreement between the two organizations, allowing them to further their existing collaboration on several fronts. The bilateral agreement allows IPSA and OUI-IOHE to organize academic panels at each other’s main events in 2023 (the IPSA World Congress of Political Science and the Conference of the Americas on International Education - CAIE).
IPSA Executive Director Kim Fontaine-Skronski expressed her delight at signing the MoU with OUI-IOHE: “The MoU will enhance our existing academic cooperation with OUI-IOHE and increase the presence of IPSA in 350 higher education institutions across 28 countries in the Americas. This significant cooperation also aligns with IPSA's key mission to support the development of political science worldwide, especially in the Global South”.
IOHE Secretary General David Julien added that: “The signing of this memorandum of understanding between OUI-IOHE and the International Political Science Association (IPSA) represents the opportunity to strengthen our networks and to improve and increase our relationship with the global political science community. It is in line with our recently approved Strategic Plan to increase strategic alliances and to focus on research related initiatives for our members and in this sense the fit with IPSA is perfect”.
Based in Montreal, the Inter-American Organization for Higher Education was founded in 1980 and is currently the only higher education association present and active throughout the Americas. Through its various training offer and wide variety of inter-American and intercultural activities, OUI-IOHE implements the best strategies and practices to help higher education institutions face challenges specific to this sector. OUI-IOHE also acts as Secretariat for the Conference of the Americas on International Education (CAIE) which 8th edition will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada on 6-8 November 2023.
