IPSA Charts a Visionary Course with its 2023-2027 Strategic Plan

The International Political Science Association (IPSA) proudly introduces its 2023-2027 Strategic Plan, a culmination of collaborative efforts that draws from the successes of its predecessor while charting a dynamic path for the future. Rooted in a resilient foundation, this new plan reaffirms IPSA's mission to advance political science on a global scale.

The plan was developed through a series of meetings led by the Committee on the Implementation of the Administrative Reform and Strategic Plan. Chaired by IPSA Past President Dianne Pinderhughes, the Committee was composed of IPSA President Pablo Oñate, IPSA Past President Marianne Kneuer, IPSA Vice-President Keiichi Kubo, and Executive Director Kim Fontaine-Skronski. Preliminary drafts were based on the previous Strategic Plan to ensure continuity with IPSA’s vision and key missions, but also on the discussions held during the 2022 Regional Dialogues with IPSA’s collective members. Consultations were also held with the IPSA Secretariat team and Executive Committee members.

The 2023-2027 Strategic Plan consists of four strategic missions, ten goals, and 47 specific actions. These carefully drafted initiatives underscore IPSA's unwavering commitment to supporting the global political science community, promoting inclusivity and diversity, upholding ethical standards and academic freedom, as well as fostering organizational growth. Guided by its core values of excellence, leadership, inclusivity, and innovation, IPSA's visionary approach emphasizes both continuity and evolution. The endorsement of the 2023-2027 Strategic Plan by the IPSA Council on 17 July 2023 is a testament to the organization's commitment to progress.

The announcement of the new Strategic Plan follows the implementation of 76% of the actions outlined in the previous 2018-2022 plan, despite the challenges posed by the pandemic. This accomplishment underscores the determination and collective spirit of the entire IPSA community. With the unveiling of the new forward-looking plan, IPSA aims to further propel its legacy of excellence while ushering in a new era of innovation and collaboration.
