IPSA Executive Committee Statement Concerning the Situation Faced by Academics in Turkey
Publication date: Wed, 25 Apr 2018
The Executive Committee of the International Political Science Association expresses its concern that the Turkish government continues to apply punitive administrative and legal measures against Turkish academics who exercised their freedom of expression by signing a peace petition. We ask the Turkish Government to suspend the implementation of such measures and recognize that academics are entitled to express their opinions freely in democratic societies.
This statement was adopted unanimously by the IPSA Executive Committee (EC) at the 126th IPSA EC Meeting, held in Lisbon, Portugal on April 14 and 15, 2018.
