Political, economic, and socio-cultural dynamics that shape Africa’s internal regional interactions as well as its engagements with the broader global system poses challenges. Despite these historical and contemporary challenges, African states find difficult to foster regional integration through mechanisms such as the African Union (AU), ECOWAS, and other transnational initiatives.
At the same time, Africa’s international relations are increasingly defined by evolving partnerships with global powers, including China, the United States, the European Union, and emerging economies. This panel aims to examine these relationships, highlighting the role of diplomacy, trade, security, and development cooperation in shaping Africa’s place in the world.
