Description

The process by which political governments lose democratic features like political freedom, civil liberties, and checks and balances and instead become more authoritarian. This process can occur in both democratic and less democratic states, often through legal reforms like coups and constitutional changes. The objective of this research is to explore the significant impacts on third-world countries, leading to a range of negative consequences. In this study, we need to address the major effects, which include degradation of democratic institutions, human rights violations, mismanagement and corruption, widening inequality, decline in public services, increased social tensions, reduced foreign investment and aid, which led to a loss of international credibility, sanctions, and isolation. The security implications, which consist of internal conflict, instability, and authoritarian alliances, make things difficult for long-term governance challenges this sparked a civil war in the nations. The obstacles presented by authoritarian governments frequently necessitate extensive national and international initiatives to advance democratization and development. This research tackles the division in society brought on by the authoritarian culture prevalent in third-world nations, as well as its underlying roots. This study uses mixed methods as a research methodology.
