The increasing widespread adoption of generative AI in contemporary industrial societies is blurring traditional boundaries between democratic and autocratic regimes. On the input side, the pervasive diffusion of social media has made Internet the key arena where consent can be gained and/or manipulated. On the output side, the cybersovereignty apparatus is turning executive decision-making in a much less transparent and participated process. With electronic administrative implementation and citizens’ profiling becoming driving features of XXIst century politics, are democracies and autocracies converging towards a new digicratic era?
