This panel observes that the resurgence of conflict in the Global South in the last decades has further been exacerbated by the impacts of climate change. The panel proposes discussing the nexus between climate change and conflict in the Global South. It situates how climate change is worsening an already fragile context by aggravating food and water insecurity and contributing to a humanitarian crisis. The panel also proposes exploring resilience mechanisms in place by exploring the potential for community-based social protection mechanisms to prevent conflicts exacerbated by climate change.
