This panel looks for the contributions that study civic responses and forms of the engagement in reaction to the eruption of war and conflict. It derives from the premise that individuals, societal groups try to actively cope with the armed conflict that takes place at the territories of the state they live in and are not only passive observer or victims. They also apply different individual coping strategies. Usually at the macro-level this could be seen as a form of societal resilience and self-organisation, yet it can also involve more complex forms of engagement in the world of cyber links, volunteer movements and growing transnationalism.
