"Geopolitics" is increasingly popular among analysts, yet its meaning often remains vague, sometimes reduced to a synonym for "power politics." For years, geopolitics and international relations (IR) have diverged across academic traditions, but the De Gruyter Brill book series Geopolitics and International Relations seeks to create a space in which each of these can thrive and learn from each other. This platform emphasizes territorially embedded factors—physical and human geography, location, spatial dynamics, geo-economics, and geostrategy—while addressing pressing geopolitical challenges in security, economy, energy, environment, technology, and foreign policy. The series welcomes IR specialists alongside scholars from history, geography, economics, political science, psychology, international law, and beyond. Join series editor Professor David Criekemans in this Meet the Editor Session to explore these issues and discuss potential book project ideas tackling the intersections of geopolitics and IR in today’s complex world.
